Sage smudge sticks
Sage smudge sticks are a well-known and widely used product among indigenous peoples in Central America, especially within shamanism. They are part of purification ceremonies in which these spicy plants smolder and release their sacred, purifying smoke. This stimulates visions and dispels negative energy and bad entities. Dragon’s Blood Resin
Dragon’s blood is a bright red resin obtained from several types of “dragon’s blood trees”. Namely the Croton , Dracaena , Daemonorops , Calamus rotang and Pterocarpus . The red resin was used in ancient times as a varnish, medicine, incense and dye. It is still used by some for the above purposes. Dragon’s blood resin, unlike sage, has a pleasantly sweet scent.

The dragon’s blood therefore gives a slightly sweet smell to the spicy sage. The combination of both ensures that many experience the dragon’s blood sage sticks as more pleasant than the sage on it’s own.

How to use
Once the leaves are dry, they can get burned. This product is tied together with a 100% cotton thread. This way it is easy to light. Once the top of the beam is lit, you can move the smoke with a feather and spread the sacred smoke over objects, people and all corners of a room. If necessary, keep a container underneath for the loose burnt herbs.

Good to know: sage is also used as a natural defense against insects such as moths and mosquitoes.
